TOUGH AND REMOTE BORDERLAND SETTING
1200M DESCENDING, 22 MILE LOOP
ENTERTAINMENT, BEERS AND GOOD RIDING.
In 2019 we tested out the Descendant on hardy riders up for a new challenge. 2021 was a corker with a hotly contested race across all categories. Old trails were reinvigorated and spruced up to put riders to the test. These were hand crafted by people who love the sport to sit alongside some of the regular super long runs at Kielder. Steep rocks, loose ground and attention sucking corners left everyone with a sense of awe, relief and accomplishment. This time round it’s 5 stages and spread over a weekend to make a bit of a party of it.
Practice on Saturday is compulsory and the race will be on Sunday. These are tricky and technical trails and you will really want to stick a toe in the water before diving in fully. There will be an event marquee with food, drink and entertainment to fill your time. All you need to do is bring your descending A game!
There are the usual plethora of categories to aim for and we love to include the e-bike fraternity as well. The whole event is based on a campsite that has options for glamping pods and electric hook ups to go with the hot showers and other facilities. Camping spots are on a first come first served basis and anyone not booked on the field can park in a Forestry car park nearby.
