Is The Route Fully Marked?

The course will be marshalled as well as having directional signs and tape on course.  A GPX of the route will be issued in the info pack one week prior to the race.

How Difficult Are The Stages?

There is a mix of hand craft special trails and trail centre stuff.  The off-piste stuff is not open to the public so you get the chance to ride stuff that no-one else does.  These trails have some really technical stuff in there so be prepared to have your skills examined.

The trail centre stuff has the huge advantage of being hard wearing so even if the weather turns horrible they will stand strong.  They are also incredibly fast.

All the trails are exceptionally long in distance so it’s a good idea to get your fitness levels up.

Are There Cut Off Times?

The stages have fixed opening and closing times.  You will also be given individual arrival times.  It’s up to you to get there on time.  Once the marshals have left the stages there is strictly no access.

Do I need to register in advance?

Yes. All participants must enter in advance using our online booking.

Do I have to camp?

The event is all based on Kielder campsite but there is absolutely no requirement to be based there.  If you want to turn up for the day then there are plenty of Forestry England pay and display car parks very close by.

Do I need to bring a glass?

We love the environment so we’re not providing plastic or compostable glasses of any kind.  Please bring your own re-usable glass to use at the bar.  We have event tankards available for those who purchase them when they sign up and we’ll have them ready for you when you register.

What is the Maximum Number of Entrants for this Race?

Currently the limit is 350 for people taking part.

What is the Latest I can Sign Up?

We will close entry to the event 7 days prior to the race or when the maximum number of entrants is reached.

Can I Enter on the Day of the Race?

We do not accept any entries on the day for this event, sorry.

What happens if I drop out during the event?

We encourage anyone to try as hard as they can but there is no point in going beyond your limits. Injury, fitness or even a family emergency may mean you have to leave the event. If this happens at any point after you have registered and collected your ride number, then you must go to the nearest checkpoint/marshal or registration and let them know you are dropping out. We will have a final count of who has finished so if you drop out and don’t notify us then we’ll presume you are missing and a lot of people will start looking for you!

If I need to withdraw before the day of the race itself, is there a refund policy?

There are no refunds or deferrals available once entered, however, you are able to transfer your entry to another person if you are unable to attend the event.

What happens if the event is cancelled or abandoned?

We may need to modify the route or even cancel the event, if circumstances beyond our reasonable control arise, such as, but not limited, to a force majeure (event that is a result of nature e.g. severe flooding). Should this arise and it is deemed to negatively impact upon the safety of the event we will communicate this to you as soon as practicable via the e-mail address you have provided. A decision to cancel the event may in extreme circumstances be taken on the day or during the course of the event. The safety of competitors, spectators and race officials and volunteers is our overriding priority.

Should the event be cancelled we will do everything possible to reschedule the event to a future date. All entries will be carried forward to this new date. Should the event be cancelled due to these circumstances and due to the fixed costs associated with the event we will not be able to provide refunds on this basis.

In the event of abandonment, postponement or cancellation of the event we will have no responsibility for any associated costs of competitors including travel and accommodation costs.

Full details can be found in our terms and conditions page.

Forestry logs?

Dotted around the course you may find stacks of logs.  Under no circumstances can you go near or on these stacks.  This is for your own safety.

Toilets and showers

A major plus point of being on a campsite is that there are some great facilities.  There is a large toilet block which include hot showers.
